Vsn 10: COMPLETE LIST OF DC5 SONGWRITING CREDITS, PERFORMED & RECORDED SONGS -- Patrick M, 17:46:50 01/22/16 Fri [0]
Here's Vsn 10 of the DC5 Songlist.

Like the previous version, this was initially assembled by Patrick M with significant input and tweaks by: DC5dude, JB, Ron Ryan, Shannah, Stan, Linda, G.O., Harold Michaels and Bruce C.

With this version, I again incorporated all of the suggestions since Vsn 9 was posted on Jan 11th. I went through every listing with a fine-toothed comb corrected a few formatting discrepancies, and noted some of the UK "B" sides that had not been identified. I also contacted the people involved with the DC5 catalog licensing, requesting song credits for the iTunes albums of previously unreleased songs, and (not surprisingly) I received no reply.

Here's updated breakdown of some of the stats re: the song credits in this list, with a few minor changes due to Vsn 9 tweaks. (For more detailed statistics, see my Jan 11/16 post - SONGLIST STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ]

There are 290 songs total (one was accidentally double-listed on Vsn 9):

Here's the adjusted breakdown:

170 original songs total [162 officially released]
plus 104 cover versions of non-DC5-composed material [67 officially released]

The stats:

21 songs in the list are missing information, either songwriting credit and/or release details, with missing information IN CAPS, and preceded by ***
(This total in Vsn 9 was incorrect; a typo when I typed out the stats). Some of these details might not be discoverable, so unless anyone catches any remaining errors or can fill in the blanks with the missing details, this version might be "the one".

NOTE: This missing information is why the percentages noted below don't add up to 100%.

OVERALL:
170 original songs = 58.6% of the DC5 repertoire (i.e., everything in this list)
104 cover versions = 35.9% of the DC5 repertoire (i.e., everything in this list)

162 officially released original songs = 66.9% of music the public heard
67 officially released cover versions = 27.7% of music the public heard

BUT since the DC5 were known for their singles, the balance between originals & covers is quite skewed in comparison:
Of their 47 singles:

25 were cover version (53.2%)
22 were originals (46.8%)

COMPLETE LIST OF DC5 SONGWRITING CREDITS, PERFORMED & RECORDED SONGS (VSN 10)

66 songs written by Mike Smith - 38.8% of all originals [65 officially released, 40.1% of total]
55 songs written by Lenny Davidson - 32.4% of all originals [51 officially released, 31.5% of total]
36 songs written by Denis Payton - 21.2% of all originals [35 officially released, 21.6% of total]
12 songs written by Ron Ryan - 7.1% or all originals [11 officially released, 6.8% of total]
The authorship of 16 songs is unknown ...

*** 21 songs missing information - noted in CAPS
